About the makers

We, Philip Brink (filmmaker) and Marieke van der Velden (photographer) are an Amsterdam based Dutch filmmaking couple. In addition to our global assignments for companies and ngo’s, we create documentary and multimedia projects. Our aim is to show the contemporary news in the personal perspective of the people it affects. We do this by creating settings in which people can tell their own story, rather than us telling their stories.

Our previous projects brought us to Afghanistan (‘A Monday in Kabul’) and Lebanon (‘Outside Syria’). In Greece we made a film about dialogues between tourists and refugees talking about their lives (’The Island of All Together’). All projects have been published, broadcasted and exhibited worldwide in leading media.

‘Children of the Labyrinth’ is our latest project (2023).
